MISC Group's response to COVID-19
Dear Valued Stakeholders,
In the last few months, the COVID-19 pandemic domino effect has reshaped the world we know today. In this disruptive environment, we remain focused by adhering to the strictest health and safety practices for all our employees who are at sea and shore.
As a global business with offices and sites across various geographies, you have our assurance that MISC Group operates in accordance to safety and health procedures and governing rules of the respective government authorities during this challenging time. Our businesses in Malaysia for example, will operate in accordance to the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) as announced by the Government of Malaysia on 7 June 2020. The RMCO which will take effect from 10 June 2020 till 31 August 2020 is part of the Movement Control Order (MCO) exit strategy and replaces the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO); which ends on 9 June 2020.
Throughout the RMCO period, almost all social activities and economic sectors in Malaysia are to resume in stages under the strict rules and guidelines set by the Government and the relevant authorities. As with the initial MCO ruling, mass movement, large gatherings and overseas travels are still restricted. The Government of Malaysia will continue to assess the situation on a national level and will issue the necessary governance until the pandemic is completely under control.
Health & Safety remain as our top priorities. Our Pandemic Response Team (PRT) together with the HSSE teams across the business have been working vigilantly to provide a series of response measures from the aspects of international, national and regional level responses as well as health threat assessment, risk of infection during commutes, medical response capabilities and the need to maintain business continuity across the countries that we operate in. The PRT reports to the Group HSSE Council, which is chaired by President and Group CEO for MISC Group with members made up of all Vice Presidents, MD/CEOs of Subsidiaries and Head of Group HSSE.
With strict procedures prioritising health and safety across our businesses, we remain committed across the MISC Group to provide the required services and safe operation of our assets with minimal disruption during this challenging period. Our commitment to you is stronger than ever
As a global corporate citizen, we are committed to flatten the curve and have taken the necessary steps to activate social distancing widely to continue the curtailment of this pandemic. Our staff across the globe who have returned to work in stages at site or to their respective offices are required to practice the strictest level of hygiene and social distancing to break the chain of infection. As for staff who will continue to work from home on a rotational basis, they are encouraged to work safely from home. As we are making progress, everyone’s commitment counts. One less infected person means we are a step closer to flatten the curve.
We believe that with your kind understanding and continuous support, together we will be able to overcome this global pandemic crisis and steer our way through this difficult and challenging period. To those who have been affected directly and indirectly by this global pandemic, our hearts and thoughts go out to you and your loved ones.
We thank you for your continuous support and for placing your trust and confidence in us.
