MISC Group's response to COVID-19
Dear Valued Stakeholders,
Global efforts to flatten the COVID-19 pandemic curve is still being pursued persistently, whilst we at MISC Group will continue our strict practices on health and safety which remain as our top priorities for our staff at sea and shore.
As a global business with offices and sites across various geographies, you have our assurance that the MISC Group operates in accordance to safety and health procedures and governing rules of the respective government authorities during this challenging time. Take for example, our businesses in Malaysia will continue to operate in accordance to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which was recently announced by the Government of Malaysia on 10 May 2020 and will take effect from 13 May 2020 to 9 June 2020.
With the CMCO in place, economic sectors in Malaysia will be allowed to open following guidelines and rules set by the Government. Nevertheless, just like the Movement Control Order (MCO) which was in force in Malaysia since 18 March 2020, the CMCO restricts mass movements and gatherings across the country. However, the Government of Malaysia will continue to assess the situation on a national level and will issue the necessary governance until the pandemic is completely under control.
As health and safety has always been our top priorities, a series of response measures considering international, national and regional level responses, health threat assessments, risk of infection during commutes, medical response capabilities and the need to maintain business continuity across the countries that we operate in have been undertaken by our Pandemic Response Team (PRT) together with the HSSE teams across the business. The PRT reports to the Group HSSE Council, which is chaired by President and Group CEO for MISC Group with members made up of all Vice Presidents, MD/CEOs of Subsidiaries and Head of Group HSSE.
With strict procedures prioritising health and safety across our businesses, rest assured we remain committed across the MISC Group to provide the required services and safe operation of our assets with minimal disruption during this challenging period.
As a global corporate citizen, we are committed to flatten the curve and have taken the necessary steps to activate social distancing widely to continue the curtailment of this pandemic. Our staff across the globe who have returned to work in stages at site or to their respective offices are required to practice the strictest level of hygiene and social distancing to break the chain of infection. As for staff who will continue to work from home on a rotational basis, they are encouraged to work safely from home. Everyone’s commitment counts now as one less infected person means that we are a step closer to flatten the curve.
We believe that with your kind understanding and continuous support, together we will be able to overcome this global pandemic crisis and steer our way through this difficult and challenging period. To those who have been affected directly and indirectly by this global pandemic, our hearts and thoughts go out to you and your loved ones.
MISC Group would like to wish you, your colleagues, friends and family the very best in this global fight against the disastrous pandemic threat. To all the brave men and women in the front lines who have contributed selflessly to help the fight against this pandemic – Thank You from all of us at MISC Group.
