MISC Group's response to COVID-19
Dear Valued Stakeholders,
The world as we know has changed every aspect of our lives since the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organisations have evolved into the new norms of working with strong emphasis on keeping employees safe and connected. As a global business with offices and sites across various geographies, we assure you that MISC Group continues to operate in accordance with the safety and health procedures and governing rules of the respective government authorities.
In relation to our businesses in Malaysia for example, the Government of Malaysia had announced on 28 August 2020 that the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) will be extended until 31 December 2020. The RMCO which took effect on 10 June 2020 was part of the Movement Control Order (MCO) exit strategy and the subsequent Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). Under the implementation of RMCO, most restrictions including certain economic activities were relaxed to allow businesses and the public to carry out their daily activities under the rules, guidelines and standard operating procedures set by the Government and its authorities. Large gatherings that deter physical distancing and overseas travel remain restricted.
The Health and Safety of our people remain our top priorities. Our Pandemic Response Team (PRT) together with the HSSE teams across the business are working vigilantly to provide a series of response measures from the aspects of international, national and regional level responses as well as health threat assessments, risk of infection during commutes, medical response capabilities and the need to maintain business continuity across the countries that we operate in. The PRT reports to the Group HSSE Council, which is chaired by President and Group CEO for MISC Group with members made up of all Vice Presidents, MD/CEOs of Subsidiaries and Head of Group HSSE.
With strict procedures prioritising safety and health across our businesses, we maintain our commitment across the MISC Group to provide the required services and safe operation of our assets with minimal disruption during this challenging period.
As a global corporate citizen, we are actively taking all the necessary steps to ensure that all required safety and health guidelines, policies and procedures are observed widely. Across the globe, our employees at sea and shore are required to observe stringent health standards and social distancing to curb possible infection. Employees who continue to work from home on a rotational basis, are encouraged to work safely. A range of preventive measures are in place to safeguard our people, our customers, and the communities in which we operate.
We believe that with your kind understanding and continuous support, we will be able to overcome this global pandemic crisis and steer our way through this trying time in solidarity. To those who have been affected directly and indirectly by this global pandemic, our hearts and thoughts go out to you and your loved ones.
We thank you for your continuous support and for placing your trust and confidence in us.
