Iftar for underprivileged children and its staff

MISC Berhad recently shared the blessings of the holy month of Ramadhan with underprivileged children in its annual Majlis Berbuka Puasa or "Iftar" at Premiera Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The event was in line with MISC's mission to create a positive difference to the lives of communities by giving back to the underprivileged. Receiving the warm participation of more than 200 staff from the MISC Family, the Iftar also served as a means for MISC’s staff from different backgrounds to get together as they demonstrated their support for a good cause.

The event was hosted by MISC’s Chairman, Dato' Ab. Halim bin Mohyiddin and its President/Group CEO, Mr. Yee Yang Chien. Also present were the Board of Directors as well as members of the Management Committee.

A total of 63 underprivileged children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Peribadi Mulia from Kampung Sungai Kantan, Kajang, Selangor were treated with scrumptious Iftar meal which included a generous spread of both Middle Eastern and Malaysian food.

The hall became abuzz with excitement as people busied themselves with light refreshments before preparing for Maghrib prayers. The warm hospitality of MISC’s staff enhanced the atmosphere of the event as they give full attention to the children, breaking their fast together, sharing the iftar meal as well as the merriment of the occasion.

The religious affairs of the Iftar event was observed with the completion of Isyak and Tarawikh prayers performed in congregation before the rest of the programme for the evening were rolled out.

Dato' Halim accompanied by En. Iwan Azlan Mokhtar and En. Hazrin Hassan presented the Hari Raya contributions to the principal of the charity home as well as "Duit Raya" and goodie bags to each of the children. The duit raya is a joint contribution from the Company and individual contributions collected through Badan Islam MISC (BIM).
